Mobile windscreen service across Sydney

We do not have a workshop you bring the vehicle to, because for this work you should not have to. Every job we do happens where the vehicle already is: a driveway, a carport, an office carpark, a yard or a site. That is straightforwardly better for you, since driving anywhere with a damaged windscreen is the thing you were trying to avoid, and it is why the vehicle can be dealt with during a working day rather than instead of one. What it does mean is that a few things have to be right at your end. This page covers what we need on the day, what will make us reschedule rather than push on, how long we will actually be there, and the limits worth knowing before you ring: our hours, how far we go, and what decides how soon we can come.

How a mobile visit works

We arrive with the glass for your vehicle, the adhesive, and everything needed to do the job properly rather than a partial kit. You do not need to be standing next to the vehicle throughout, but we do need the keys and we need to be able to get into the cabin, so somebody has to be contactable. The old glass comes out, the pinch weld is cleaned and prepared, the new glass goes in, and then the adhesive is left to cure with the technician still there. That cure is not optional and it is not padding: it is the point at which the bond can hold the windscreen in a crash. What it does not mean is that you are left waiting after we have gone. Your car is ready to drive when we finish. We do not leave until the adhesive has cured to the point the glass is doing its structural job again, which is a large part of why a replacement is about two and a half hours on site rather than one, and about three where the driver assistance camera also needs recalibrating. There is no callout fee and no assessment fee anywhere we work, so coming to you is not something you are paying extra for.

  • Keys and cabin access needed

Weather, and when we will reschedule

This is the part most mobile services do not tell you. Urethane adhesive will not bond reliably to a wet surface, and that bond is what holds the windscreen in during a crash and what the passenger airbag deploys against. So rain reaching the bonding area is not an inconvenience, it is a reason to stop. If the vehicle can be moved into a garage or under a carport the job goes ahead in any weather. If it cannot, and it is raining, we will move you rather than fit a windscreen that may not hold. Extreme heat and strong wind can do the same, because heat changes how the adhesive behaves and a large sheet of glass in a gusting wind is genuinely dangerous to handle. Chip repairs have the same problem for a different reason: moisture sitting inside the break stops resin bonding to the glass.

  • Rain on the bonding area stops a replacement
  • A garage or carport means weather is not a factor
  • Extreme heat and strong wind can also postpone
  • Moisture in a chip prevents a good repair
  • Rescheduled rather than rushed

Where we go, when we work, and how soon we can come

Three limits worth knowing before you ring, because they are easier to hear now than after a wasted call. We cover the Sydney metropolitan area and the suburb pages on this site list where that reaches. We do not travel to the Blue Mountains, Wollongong or the Central Coast. Our hours are Monday to Saturday, 7am to 5pm, and we do not attend outside them, so a window broken on a Saturday evening waits until Monday morning. And how soon we can come is decided by your glass rather than by our queue: where we hold the glass for a common vehicle we can usually attend the next business day, and where it has to be ordered in, allow up to three days. An unsafe or unsecured vehicle is brought forward wherever the glass allows. Within the metropolitan area, homes and workplaces are both straightforward. Apartment basements, office carparks and construction sites need more warning, because access permits, boom gates, induction requirements and height restrictions all take longer to sort out on the day than beforehand.

  • Sydney metropolitan area, not the Blue Mountains, Wollongong or Central Coast
  • Monday to Saturday, 7am to 5pm, with no out of hours attendance
  • Next business day where the glass is in stock, up to three days if ordered
  • Unsafe or unsecured vehicles brought forward where the glass allows
  • Basement and site access worth arranging the day before

What we need on the day

Somewhere dry and sheltered

A garage or carport is ideal. Adhesive will not bond to a wet surface.

Room to work

Space to open both front doors and move around the front of the vehicle.

The vehicle for a couple of hours

Through the fitting and through the cure, which we wait out with you.

Access sorted beforehand

Boom gates, permits and basement height limits are worth mentioning early.

Tell us where the vehicle will be and what sort of space it is: garage, carport, open driveway, street, office carpark or site. That matters as much as the vehicle details, because it decides whether the job can go ahead if the weather turns. Add the make, model and build year, and a photo of the damage, and we can usually quote and book in one exchange rather than three.

Frequently asked questions

Do you charge extra to come to me?

No. There is no callout fee and no assessment fee anywhere in our service area. Every job we do is mobile, so coming to you is how the service works rather than an add on, and the quote you get is for the glass and the work rather than for the travel.

Do I need to be there while the work is done?

Not for the whole job, but we need the keys and access to the cabin, and somebody has to be contactable in case something comes up. Plenty of customers leave the vehicle at home or in the office carpark and get on with their day. What we do need is for the vehicle to stay where it is through the fitting and through the cure that follows it, which we wait out with you rather than leaving you to.

How long will you be there, and when can I drive?

About two and a half hours on site for a windscreen replacement, and about three where your vehicle needs its camera recalibrated. A chip repair is around half an hour. The replacement figure includes the time the adhesive spends curing, because we stay with the vehicle through it, so the car is ready to drive when we finish rather than at some point after we have left. It is a long time to have a car occupied, which is worth planning around rather than discovering on the day.

Can you replace a windscreen in the rain?

No, and this is the honest answer rather than the convenient one. Urethane adhesive will not bond reliably to a wet surface, and that bond is what holds the windscreen in during a crash and supports the passenger airbag. If the vehicle can go into a garage or under a carport the weather stops mattering. If it cannot, we reschedule rather than fit a windscreen we would not trust.

What do you need from me on the day?

Somewhere dry and reasonably sheltered, room to open both front doors and move around the front of the vehicle, the keys, and for the vehicle to stay put while we work and while the adhesive cures. If the vehicle is in a basement carpark or on a site, arrange access beforehand, since permits and height limits are the things that most often turn a booking into a wasted trip.

Can you come to a construction site or a basement carpark?

Usually, with notice. Sites often need an induction or a permit, basements have height restrictions that a service vehicle may not clear, and boom gates need somebody to open them. None of that is a problem when it is sorted before we set out, and all of it is a problem on the day. Mention it when you book.

How soon can you come out, and do you work after hours?

Our hours are Monday to Saturday, 7am to 5pm, and we do not attend outside them, so a window broken on a Saturday evening waits until Monday morning. Within those hours, how soon we come is decided by your glass rather than by how busy we are: where we hold the glass for a common vehicle we can usually attend the next business day, and where it has to be ordered in, allow up to three days. A vehicle left unsafe or unsecured is brought forward wherever the glass allows. Tell us the make, model and build year when you call and we will check availability then rather than after you have booked.

Do you cover the Blue Mountains, Wollongong or the Central Coast?

No. We work across the Sydney metropolitan area and the suburb pages on this site set out where that reaches, but the Blue Mountains, Wollongong and the Central Coast are outside it. We would rather tell you that now than take a booking we cannot keep. If you are near the edge of the metropolitan area and not sure which side of the line you fall on, ring and ask.
